Explosive Fire Destroys Mobile Home

San Luis Obispo City Fire Department personnel responded to a report of a mobile home on fire with numerous explosions at the Laguna Lake Mobile Home Park, just off Prefumo Canyon Road last night about 6.

When San Luis Obispo City Fire’s Engine 4 arrived on scene the Fire Captain reported a double-wide trailer that was fully involved in fire, multiple explosions, and the fire was spreading to another trailer.  By the time firefighters could get there it was destroyed.

Investigators say no one was home at the time and no one was injured, but they are talking to people connected to the home.  This fire had the potential of spreading to multiple mobile homes.  San Luis Obispo City Firefighters kept the fire from spreading to neighboring homes.

After the fire it was discovered that the explosions were from several butane canisters found on site. Sources suspect someone was using the property as a marijuana conversion lab.

No emergency response personnel or civilians were injured fighting this blaze.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.  Due to some of the items found on site the Police Department is declaring the mobile home a crime scene and is working hand-in-hand with Arson Investigators to determine the cause of the fire.
