Thousands of California State University students are speaking out about proposed "incentive" fees to clear up classroom space.
A recent survey found that a majority of students at CSU's 23 campuses including Cal Poly would take out additional loans and delay their graduation if the new fees take effect next fall. They include a 372-dollar-per-unit supplement fee for so-called "super seniors" and a 91-dollar-per-unit fee for students who want to repeat a class.
Cal State Chancellor Charles Reed says the fees are designed to change the behavior of students who repeat or drop classes on a whim and take too many courses.
