A Goleta woman who was talking on her cell phone was hit by a freight train and killed on Saturday morning. Suzanne Worsham, 49, walked into the path of the train near the Goleta Amtrak station about 11:15. Federal Regulators Issue Violation Against Diablo Canyon Power Plant

Federal regulators have issued a violation against California’s Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant because its emergency plan failed for eight years to include instructions required for boats and ships within 10 miles of the seaside reactors. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission said in documents Thursday the company removed the instructions without permission in November 2005, which decreased the emergency plan’s effectiveness. ... Northbound Off-Ramp at LOVR Closed Intermittently For Next Four Days

The northbound U.S. Highway 101 off-ramp at Los Osos Valley Road will be closed intermittently for the next four-days beginning immediately due to a downed signal pole. Motorists traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 101 may detour by exiting at either South Higuera Street or Prado Road.
