Lompoc Man Pleads Guilty to Trafficking Counterfeit Software


A Lompoc man pleads guilty to a federal charge of trafficking counterfeit software. 52-year-old Jeffrey Scott Patterson faces up to ten years in federal prison. Investigators estimate Patterson made more than one half million dollars over eight years selling the counterfeit software. Patterson is scheduled to be sentenced on June 27th.

Arson at SLO High School


San Luis Obsipo High School officials attribute the fire at their baseball equipment shed to arson. The fire Friday night caused more than $25,000 in damages. Fire officials suspect the fire started in a portable toilet and then burned two storage units next to it.  It destroyed $25,000 worth of equipment inside. It’s one of a series of arson fires …

No Resolution Reached in Orcutt and Santa Maria School Districts


Still no resolution to the contract dispute in the Orcutt and Santa Maria school districts. Friday night, dozens of teachers turned out to rally for a pay raise in Orcutt. The Pismo Beach Police Department identifies the man who jumped off the Pismo Beach Pier late Saturday night. He’s 28-year-old Marco Antonio Reyes of Tulare. Witnesses say he was swimming normally after the jump and declined help.  Several minutes later, however, he was heard yelling for help. Witnesses lost sight of him in the dark. A 22-year-old man fell to his death yesterday at Pirates Cove, just south of Avila Beach. He has not been identified.  The reason for the man’s death has not been determined. It may have been accidental. An autopsy is scheduled later this week.
