Two Arrested For Attempted Murder


Santa Maria Police arrested two men Thursday night for attempted murder for a shooting that occurred on March 11 on North Mary Street. The two men arrested were Randy Ramirez and David Martinez Jr., both from Santa Maria. Both men were booked into Santa Barbara County Jail. Police are still investigating the incident.

High School Students Raise Money for Ill Student


Ernest Righetti High School students recently organized a fundraiser for a special-needs student with cancer to help pay for his ongoing brain surgeries. The students and staff held a tri-tip barbecue and placed collection cans in each classroom to help 19-year-old Joshua Amador. A total of $3,652.80 was raised, far exceeding the goal of $500. Fires Across Central Coast


Three fires occurred in the Central Coast yesterday. A fire consumed an empty two-story Lompoc home at around 9 a.m. Firefighters had it under control less than an hour later. One firefighter suffered minor injuries, but is back on duty. The home has been deemed unlivable. Another fire caused around $100,000 in damage at a Pismo Beach business yesterday morning. …

Three Teens Arrested for Carjacking a Woman


Three allegedly violent teenage carjacking suspects were arrested on northbound Highway 101 in Santa Margarita. The teens allegedly stole a silver Nissan sedan from a woman in Visalia. Homes Evacuated for Potential Bomb Threat


The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Bomb Squad and Vandenberg Air Force Base’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team investigated a potentially explosive military ordnance reported at around 3:30 p.m. yesterday on Copenhagen Drive in Solvang.  About 500 to 700 homes and businesses were evacuated.  Shortly after midnight, the Sheriff’s Bomb Squad and Vandenberg’s EOD team removed the military ordnance and said …

Reports of a Shooting


Santa Maria Police are investigating reports of a shooting. The report came in at around 5 in the afternoon yesterday and said a shooting occurred near North Broadway and Williams. There were no victims found at scene, and witnesses say the suspected shooter running away from the scene.
