Last Turboprop Jet Takes Off From SLO County Airport


No more turboprop jets at the SLO County regional airport. The last one took off last night. The prop places will be replaced with 50 seat jets operated by Skywest which handled United flights to LA and San Francisco. Since the jets are bigger, there won’t be as many flights. Bay Area Man Killed on Oceano Dunes


A Bay Area man was killed on the Oceano dunes Saturday afternoon. 21-year-old Erwin Baker apparently drove off a large sand dune. Rangers, lifeguards and CAL FIRE responded immediately, but could not revive Baker and he was declared dead at the scene. The area where the accident occurred is fraught with danger. Robbery in Santa Maria Monday


An AMPM market in Santa Maria was robbed yesterday morning. The market is located on Blosser road and occurred about 1:20. Two men with a rifle entered the store but didn’t take any cash, just some goods from the store. There was no description of the two suspects. Call the Santa Maria police if you know anything.

The Goleta Beach Pier will be temporarily closed from April 6, 2015 through April 30, 2015 for major structural, handrail, and decking repairs.
