At about 1:15 a.m. Sunday residents from the 6500 block of Del Playa Drive contacted the Isla Vista Foot Patrol to report a residential burglary that had just occurred. The victim stated that the suspect had been located inside the victim’s residence stealing property.
Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Deputies from the Isla Vista Foot Patrol responded along with University of California Police Department Officers.
When officers and deputies arrived, they located a subject leaving the area who matched the victim’s description of the suspect, later identified as Santa Barbara City College student Oliver Lim 19-years-old. Lim fled from officers and deputies and a short foot pursuit ensued. Lim was ultimately caught and detained.
Lim was later found to be in possession of stolen property from the original residential burglary as well as unreported vehicle burglaries in the area, including a GPS unit, Samsung TV monitor, credit cards, electronic devices, cell phones, U.S. currency, prescription medication and checks.
Lim was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail for violations of residential burglary, possession of stolen property, and possession of a controlled substance, petty theft and resisting arrest. Lim’s bail is set at $50,000.00.
