Grover Beach Police Clear Homeless Encampment

Yesterday, Grover Beach Police cleared out a homeless encampment off Highway One near the Amtrak Station. Some of the transients were allowed to move to a nearby Pismo Beach campground.  Nonprofit agencies paid their space fees. 20-30 homeless people lived in the camp. San Luis Obispo jobless rate in December up slightly to 4.5%.  It was 4.4% in November. But one year ago in December, it was 5.1%. The average for all of California was 5.8%. Imperial County reported the highest at 19.6%, many of whom are seasonal agricultural workers.
