Unemployment in San Luis Obispo County drops to 4.4% in January. That’s down from 5.3% one year ago. That 4.4% rate is also below the rate of 5.8% for the state and 5.3% for the nation. Atascadero Teen Arraigned for Making Threats on Elementary School

An Atascadero teenager arraigned yesterday in San Luis Obispo Superior Court in connection with threats at San Gabriel Elementary School in Atascadero. 18-year-old Bret Stephen Landon is accused of leaving threats at the school, which prompted the officials to close the school for several weeks. Ribbon Cutting for LOVR Interchange

Ribbon cutting for the new Los Osos Valley Road interchange will not be held until March 29th, but the roadworks is nearly complete. The $24 million widening project has opened four lanes on Llos Osos Valley Road between Calle Joaquin and South Higuera Street. All phases of the project cost about $35 million.

Arroyo Grande Bridge Will Not Get Repaired For Another Three Years

The 100-year-old Bridge Street bridge in Arroyo Grande will not be repaired for another three years. Arroyo Grande is looking for ways to strengthen the bridge, built around 1908. Cal Trans says the bridge is functionally obsolete. It’s too narrow and has the lowest load limit allowed before they must be closed.
