3.3 Earthquake Hits Off Cayocus Coast

A magnitude 3.3 earthquake was reported Tuesday afternoon eight miles off the coast of Cayucos, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 12:15 p.m.  There were no reports of damage or injury.  The USGS also reports that in the last 10 days, there has been one earthquake of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.

Five Cities Newspaper Shutting Down

The Times Press-Recorder, the newspaper that covers the Five Cities area, announced they will be shutting down operations.  In a letter to their subscribers, the company said the end of business is due to dwindling advertising revenue and increases in operating costs.  The community publication owned by Lee Central Coast Newspapers will print their final paper Friday, May 27th.
