Purple was the color of the day at Lakeview Jr High School in Orcutt yesterday. Yesterday was Team Lexi Wear Purple Day. Students wore purple to raise awareness about Lexi’s battle against childhood cancer. Over the weekend, a fundraiser generated $50,000 to help defray Lexi’s medical expenses.

Desalination at Diablo Canyon Power Plant

Tomorrow, San Luis Obispo County Supervisors to discuss asking county public works to move ahead with the desal project. The cost could reach $36 million dollars to expand the desalination plant at Diablo.  But it could provide 1300 acre-feet of water for the South County. Tomorrow, supervisors will discuss the feasibility of that plan.

Suspects Arrested in Operation Matador Appeared in Court Last Week

15 suspects appear in Santa Maria court late last week.  They are all accused of being members of the MS-13 gang. Friday, all 15 pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to commit murder charges. They’ll be back on court on Thursday in Santa Maria. A 16th suspect is in Ohio, awaiting extradition to California.

A person who jumped off the Pismo Beach Pier Saturday morning, remains missing. Around 10 Saturday night, someone jumped into the water from the pier. A hiker trapped by high tide water was rescued from the Guadalupe Dunes Saturday afternoon. Santa Barbara County Fire and the Guadalupe Fire Department rescued the man around 1 Saturday afternoon.
