A fire broke out on an unmanned fishing boat in the Port San Luis Harbor Sunday night. No one was injured. The boat was the Sea Angler. The cause remains under investigation.

Bay Area Man Killed on Oceano Dunes


A Bay Area man was killed on the Oceano dunes Saturday afternoon. 21-year-old Erwin Baker apparently drove off a large sand dune. Rangers, lifeguards and CAL FIRE responded immediately, but could not revive Baker and he was declared dead at the scene. The area where the accident occurred is fraught with danger. An AMPM market in Santa Maria was robbed yesterday morning. The market is located on Blosser road and occurred about 1:20. Two men with a rifle entered the store but didn’t take any cash, just some goods from the store. There was no description of the two suspects. Call the Santa Maria police if you know anything.
