Woman Found Guilty of Murder After Killing a California Highway Patrolman

Paso Robles, CA -- KayleeAnnWeisenberg.jpg" />Kaylee Weisenberg, the Paso Robles woman charged with killing a CHP officer last year, was found guilty of murder Friday. 23-year-old Weisenberg was convicted of two counts: second-degree murder and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. They were in connection with the death of Officer Brett Oswald in June of last year. The 47-year-old officer was waiting for a tow truck when Weisenberg crashed into him.

Much of the trial centered on whether Weisenberg was driving under the influence of methamphetamine and how fast she was driving. The defense also argued that Oswald put himself in harm's way by standing in the roadway. The trial lasted 15 days before closing arguments on Wednesday. Weisenberg will face sentencing September 8; she faces 15 years to life in prison. She is being held without bail until then.
