New details in the standoff between a woman and police officers in Grover Beach have been released. The Grover Beach Police Department believes that it may have been an attempt at suicide. On Monday, they received a report of a woman threatening to kill her roommate, then herself. When officers arrived at the home on the 300 block of North Highway 1, they found 62 year old Susan Margaret Huston with a loaded handgun. They contacted the roommate who said she had left the residence when she heard a gunshot coming from inside. A perimeter was established, and nearby residents were evacuated from their homes. The SLO SWAT team was called for help, and once they were on scene, Huston came out of the house. After Huston refused to comply with officer’s demands, they stunned her with a bean bag gun, allowing them to seize the loaded pistol and take her into custody. She was taken to Arroyo Grande Community Hospital for treatment then arrested for making criminal threats. |
