Posted: Thursday, 25 September 2008 9:28AM Two Local Unions Announce Their Support of Two City Council Candidates Two local emergency personnel unions have announced their support for two city council candidates. The San Luis Obispo Firefighter and Police unions voted to endorse John Ashbaugh and Jan Marx…This shortly after announcing their support of a controversial arbitration award that will go to the members of the San Luis Obispo Police Officers’ Association. According to The Tribune, the raise will have top officers making more than $102,000 a year and dispatchers making $75,000. Opposing candidates Marcia Nelson and Dan Carpenter oppose the binding arbitration and would vote to overturn it. Neither Union supports a candidate for mayor.
