Paso Robles, CA -- Opening statements are getting underway in the trial of a local man accused of trying to kill his ex-girlfriend in Paso Robles last year. Troy Sykes has pleaded not guilty to two counts of attempted murder. In July 2010, police say he got into a fight with the woman, leading to a shooting. The trial was delayed last month after Sykes had to switch attorneys.
