Transplant Expert Testifies in Case Against Roozrokh

A medical expert has testified against the transplant surgeon accused of speeding up his patient’s death to harvest his organs. Chief of Transplantation at UC Irvine Medical Center, Clarence Foster, said that Doctor Hootan Roozrokh’s methods weren’t part of standard practice. According to The Tribune, Doctor Foster claimed that Roozrokh shouldn’t have even been involved with the patient until he was pronounced dead by another doctor. Roozrokh prescribed Rueben Navarro, a patient at Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center, Ativan and Morphine. Doctor Foster says that those two medications can make it harder to breathe, but defense attorneys claim Roozrokh wanted to spare Navarro of any more suffering. One of Roozrokh’s attorneys also pointed out inconsistencies in Doctor Foster’s testimony during cross-examination. The trial continues…
