Threatening E-Mails Making It's Way to County Resident's Inbox

Imagine opening your e-mail one morning and reading this: “I felt very sorry for you, that your life is going to end like this if you don’t comply. I was paid to eliminate you and I have to do it within 10 days.” If you don’t have to imagine it because it has already happened, do not respond! This e-mail scam is just trying to make the sender a quick dollar. The e-mails threaten to assassinate the receiver unless he or she pays up. The Grover Beach Police Department is reminding everyone to keep their identity safe by not responding to these e-mails and reporting this spam campaign to your local police department. If you have received an e-mail like this, you can file a complaint at ic3.gov. |
