Tea Fire Continues to Burn in Montecito

Only 2,000 of the some 15,000 people evacuated from their homes due to the Tea Fire in Montecito were allowed to return on Saturday. According to the Ventura County Star, officials said most evacuees will probably not be allowed back into the burned areas for a couple of days. More than 200 homes have been destroyed or significantly damaged; 22 people have been treated for smoke inhalation; and another three people have suffered from burns. California Department of Forestry reports that fire has blacked about 2,000 acres. More than 1,300 fire fighters are working to battle the blaze and have the fire 80% contained. The estimated cost of fighting the fire so far is $4.6 million.
