Grover Beach, CA -- The Grover Beach Police Department says the device that prompted the bomb squad to be called out yesterday afternoon was not explosive. The device was destroyed just in case. At least 25 businesses were evacuated beforehand. The discovery happened as parole officers conducted a search of parolee Robert Wharton’s van in the 900 block of West Grand Avenue in Grover Beach. No one was hurt in the incident.
Police say that while Wharton was arrested on drug charges, he’s currently not facing any charges in connection with the device because they still don’t know if it was meant to cause harm…
