State Allocates Funding for County Water Quality Testing
|

In recent months, six beaches were removed from the list of places in the county where water quality would be tested on a weekly basis. They were eliminated due to budget cuts, but now, the state has dedicated $2 million to put those six beaches back on the list. The Tribune says that the State Water Resources Control Board will fund water quality testing for those County beaches over the next two years. The Board allocated money to fund the testing temporarily at the request of Governor Schwarzenegger. The testing checks for disease causing germs and bacteria levels that could be hazardous to the public’s health.
