San Luis Obispo, CA -- Police arrested a San Luis Obispo man yesterday accused of stabbing another SLO resident Monday afternoon. 41-year-old Jesus Gutierrez was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. At about 3 o’clock, detectives following up on information that Gutierrez might be in the Laguna Lake area spotted him in the passenger seat of a white Ford Mustang that was driving through the park. Detectives stopped the vehicle and arrested Gutierrez without incident. Police received a report of a stabbing at about 6:45 Monday evening. When they arrived at the scene on Elks Lane, they found San Luis Obispo resident 41-year-old Jonathan Blackwell had been stabbed one time in his lower back and had minor facial injures. He was taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center. Reportedly, Blackwell and Gutierrez were arguing when Gutierrez stabbed Blackwell once then kicked him in the face after he’d fallen to the ground.
