Scooter Driver Who Died In SLO Crash Was Drunk

 San Luis Obispo -- 50-year-old Clayt Casey was drunk while riding his electric scooter east on Los Ranchos Road in San Luis Obispo earlier this month. He ran the red light and went into the intersection at Highway 227.
At that time 22-year-old Christopher King was driving south on Highway 227 in that area. King swerved to avoid Casey, but could not. King’s truck hit Casey’s scooter, ejecting Casey from the scooter. Casey hit the windshield of the truck then landed on the road. He was taken to French Hospital where he died from a head injury.
CHP reports that toxicology results determined that Casey was extremely drunk at the time of the collision.
