The Lompoc School Board has approved 29 lay offs. This is actually good news compared to the original plan of laying off many more. The number of layoffs is lower than expected because many teachers decided to go for an early retirement plan. The layoffs are mainly due to Los Padres Elementary and El Camino Middle School’s declining enrollment.
