Santa Maria, CA -- Santa Maria Police need your help to find a suspect wanted in connection with an assault. Officers say 24-year-old Jose Varelas is wanted for allegedly assaulting a woman just after noon yesterday in the 200 block of North Western Ave. Investigators were called to the area of the alleged attack, and when they tried to approach Varelas he ran away. Police K-9's and additional units were brought in to search for Varelas, but he was never found. If you might know his whereabouts, call the Santa Maria Police Department.
