Santa Barbara Man Kidnapped His Mother
|
|
A Santa Barbara man is facing a long list of charges after he kidnaps his mother. Early yesterday morning, the Sheriff’s Department Dispatch Center received a 911 call of a woman screaming. Then, another 911 call, but this time a man called with the same woman yelling in the background, but the caller hung up. Finally, the woman called back and told the dispatcher that she was a victim of a kidnapping, but she was able to escape. Sheriff’s Deputies arrived at the woman’s location and found that she had been severely beaten. She told the deputies that her son, 32 year old Gregory Patchett Junior was her attacker. Sheriff’s Deputies were able to locate Patchett driving around in the Montecito area. They tried to pull him over, but Patchett wouldn’t pull over. The pursuit reached high speeds and involved a lot of careless driving, so the officers decided to call off the pursuit in the interest of public safety. Sheriff’s Detectives did find Patchett at a home on the 26-hundred block of Tallant Road in Santa Barbara, where they took him into custody without incident. He was arrested for kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, dissuading a witness, threats, disabling a telephone line, violation of a protective order and evading a peace officer. He is currently being held in the Santa Barbara County Jail with bail set at $1,000,000. |
