San Luis Obispo Kidnapping and Assault Case Under Investigation



San Luis Obispo, CA -- San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's detectives are investigating a kidnapping and assault case in which a man was allegedly held in a California Valley home for several days and repeatedly assaulted. Weapons used allegedly included a fork and hammer. The man is currently being treated at an undisclosed hospital in San Luis Obispo County. Authorities were called to a home in California Valley after the victim escaped his captors and sought help. The occupant then called 911.

Sheriff's deputies, Cal Fire and an ambulance were dispatched to the scene, hampered by poor visibility do to weather conditions. Local CHP and air ambulance helicopters were unable to fly to the remote location because of the weather. The victim was treated at the scene by Cal Fire and turned over to emergency medical personnel for ground transport.

One of the suspects in the assault was taken into custody after 2:00 AM when he attempted to return to the crime scene. Phillip Clyde Williams was arrested without incident and booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail on a no bail warrant from Fresno, with additional charges pending on this incident.

A second suspect, Daniel Andrew Zeller remains outstanding, there is no vehicle associated with him, however investigators believe he may have fled to Taft. Preliminary details on why the man was held and beaten are not available at this time. Further details are expected to be released Tuesday afternoon.
