San Luis Obispo Mothers for Peace is in Washington DC trying to convince the Nuclear Regulatory Commission not to license a new spent fuel storage facility at the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant. The NRC is being sued by the group charging that environmental laws are being broken because a proper EIR report to address the potential dangers of a terrorist attack on the facility has yet to be provided. Spokesperson Jane Swanson says PG&E needs to protect the storage casks better than she believes they are.
