SLO Election Reveals Big Defeat for Police and Fire Unions

San Luis Obispo, CA -- A big defeat for police and fire unions in San Luis Obispo as both ballot measures A and B were overwhelmingly voted in. With about 7500 of the approximately 10,000 votes being “yes” for both measures, some are calling the election a landslide. The numbers are still unofficial and about 500 ballots still need to be counted which will take place today, but that won’t change the outcome.

Measure A’s approval will allow the city council the power to reduce pension benefits for all city employees. And Measure B repeals the police and fire union's right to binding arbitration.
