Posted: Thursday, 14 August 2008 7:19AM Repeat Sex Offender Now Behind Bars A registered sex offender who used dating to get access to his victims is now in jail. 42 year old Charles Paul Fernandez was arrested after the Criminal Investigations Division of the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Department found out that Fernandez had molested the child of his girlfriend in Santa Maria over the course of three years. After further investigation, detectives believe that Fernandez had dated numerous single mothers in the cities he had lived before he came to the Central Coast. In 2005, he was convicted of sexual assault with an unrelated child and had to register as a sex offender in Kern County. Currently, he is in being held in the Santa Barbara County Jail without bail.
