A reckless driver took the life of one of his passengers this weekend. 28 year old Apolinar Rodriguez was driving down Highway 101 just south of Arroyo Grande when CHP air units located him. The CHP had received several calls of someone in a 1990 Honda driving erratically, and once they spotted Rodriguez on the road, they saw him lose control of his car, which then went off the road, down a 30 foot embankment and hit a tree. CHP Officers found one of the victims thrown out of the burning car, and the other two were still in it. The person in the passenger seat was pronounced dead at the scene. He has not yet been identified. Rodriguez and 18 year old Benito Salvador were taken to Arroyo Grande Hospital for treatment. Rodriguez is being charged with felony DUI and felony manslaughter. |
