Paso Robles, CA -- Paso Robles police officer Jon Tatro filed a lawsuit in San Luis Obispo Superior Court on Friday against the city of Paso Robles. He alleges he was retaliated against for not meeting traffic-ticket quotas. Traffic-ticket quotas are illegal. Police Chief Lisa Solomon isn’t commenting under the advice of city counsel.California law forbids law enforcement agencies from using the number of citations issued by an officer as the sole reason for promoting, demoting, reassigning, firing or otherwise disciplining an officer.
Jon Tatro, president of the Paso Robles Police Officers Association, had previously filed a claim with the city last December as a precursor to the lawsuit. That claim was rejected by the city in January.
Tatro is seeking unspecified damages for physical, mental and emotional injuries, and money for loss of income, health care expenses, and related attorney fees.
