Posted: Tuesday, 02 September 2008 9:20AM Police Chase Reckless Driver Down Highway 101 A police pursuit ends in a crash near Avila Beach. On Thursday night, police received several reports of a 1999 Ford Windstar driving recklessly on Highway 101 near State Route 58. A Sheriff’s Deputy tried to pull the driver over near Madonna Road, but the driver just kept on going. The van exited at San Luis Bay Drive, then continued onto Ontario. That’s when the driver, 25 year old Luis Rios, tried to turn onto Avila Beach Drive and hit 22 year old Victor Villalpando head on. Rios was taken into custody then transported to Arroyo Grande Hospital for treatment. He is being charged with felony DUI and evading a peace officer.
