Police have arrested the man responsible for a hit and run collision in downtown San Luis Obispo. Just after 4:30 yesterday afternoon, SLOPD received a 911 call about a hit and run rollover collision at Buchon and Garden Streets. The investigation revealed that the driver of a 1990 Honda Accord was going south on Garden when he ran a stop sign and collided with a 1992 Mazda on Pismo Street. The driver of the Accord fled the scene of the collision, and ran another stop sign. This time he collided with a 2005 Toyota, causing it to flip, and land on another car that was in the road. According to The Tribune, the driver of the Toyota, Retired San Luis Obispo County Superior Court Judge Donald Umhofer, received minor injuries. None of the other drivers involved in the collisions were injured. The driver of the Accord fled the scene again, but officers later found 20 year old Mateo Morales and arrested him. Officers determined that Morales was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collisions and was arrested for felony DUI and hit and run. He is currently in County Jail. |
