Oceano Man Busted for Bring Thousands of Prescription Meds into the U.S.
The SLO County Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit has busted another local man for illegal possession of prescription medications. This comes soon after a caretaker was arrested on suspicion of taking advantage of his developmentally challenged clients to get a hold of prescription painkillers. Yesterday, detectives arrested 22 year old Erik Carlton Simpson after they found 15,000 tablets of the prescription muscle relaxer SOMA in his car and at two other locations where they served search warrants. Detectives worked with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (or ICE) and they determined that the pills were brought into the States from Mexico. Deputies also confiscated nine unregistered handguns. No word on what Simpson will be charged with.
