A young man from California Valley is now in jail for allegedly setting his parent’s Santa Margarita home on fire. 22 year old Lance Timothy Stach started a fire in a trash can that was in his room because he wanted to destroy a computer. Stach’s father took the trash can outside of their mobile home on Dobbins Trail. The son went out of the home and brought back a full two gallon gas can and threw it on the fire. While his dad was putting out the fire outside, Stach started another fire inside the home after he turned off the water to the house. Stach armed himself with a butcher knife before deputies arrived. While firefighters were putting out the blaze, deputies were in a standoff with the young man. After an hour, police took him into custody. Stach is currently in the San Luis Obispo County Jail for arson, vandalism, resisting public officers and brandishing a deadly weapon in front of a peace officer.
