San Luis Obispo, CA -- Authorities say a suspected drunken driver hit and killed a Londoner who was riding a bicycle along Halcyon Road near Oceano late Saturday. 20-year-old Aaron Richard Ceja of Nipomo, was driving north “at a high rate of speed” along Halcyon when he lost control of his SUV near Mountain View Road just before 8 o’clock. The vehicle struck the southbound cyclist, whom the CHP described only as a 26-year-old man from London, England. His name was not disclosed because authorities haven’t notified his next of kin. The cyclist died at Arroyo Grande Community Hospital and Ceja reportedly suffered major injuries in the crash. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and causing injury, as well as vehicular manslaughter. As of late last night, Ceja remained listed in custody at the San Luis Obispo County Jail. He’s being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
