Lightening Starts Several Fires in SLO County

3,500 lightening bolts hit San Luis Obispo during the storm that came our way Friday morning. The lightening started six fires, burning a total of more than 50 acres of land. The biggest of those fires was the Orcutt Fire in Morretti Canyon. That burned about 37 acres of grass and oak trees. Firefighters extinguished the fire and kept a watch on the area over Friday night. Lightening also sparked fires at the base of the Cuesta Grade, behind San Luis Obispo High School, near Suey Creek, by the Edna Ranch circle and another by Morretti Canyon, East of Orcutt Road. Four fires were also reported in the Los Padres National Forest in Santa Barbara County. |
