Newly signed legislation is one step closer to improving oil spill prevention and response. This comes after thousands of gallons of oil spilled in San Francisco and thousands more spilled at several different Greka facilities. Governor Schwarzenegger signed the comprehensive package that includes programs formed by Assemblymembers from Palo Alto to Santa Rosa. Several different organizations such as the Office of Spill Prevention and Response and the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services have changed their protocol in dealing with spills and working with local governments. The Governor signed seven bills that will strengthen California’s response to oil spills.
