Posted: Monday, 18 August 2008 10:05AM Former Cal Poly Student Brings Home Olympic Gold A former Cal Poly and Arroyo Grande High graduate has brought home an Olympic gold! Stephanie Brown Trafton competed in the discus event of this year’s Olympic games in Beijing, China. Trafton, who now lives in Galt, competed in the 2004 Olympic Trials where she placed second with a personal best of nearly 203 feet, putting her on the Olympic team. This is the first time a U.S. woman has won a gold medal for the discus since 1984.
