Posted: Wednesday, 11 June 2008 9:38AM Fire Taunts Homes and a School Fire fighters attacked a fire in Orcutt yesterday that was creeping towards a school and dozens of homes. Around one yesterday afternoon, the Santa Barbara County Fire Department responded to a reported brush fire on the 700 block of Rice Ranch Road, just a half mile from Orcutt Junior High. When fire crews arrived, the fire was about a quarter of an acre in size, but winds carried the fire to 2.3 acres before the fire was contained. Full containment was declared 40 minutes after crews arrived. No structures were damaged by the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
