El Cerrito Fire Blackens More Than 100 Acres

More than 100 acres have been left charred by the El Cerrito Fire in San Luis Obispo. The fire was up in the hills behind Johnson Avenue. More than 200 fire fighters (many of whom were actually on their way down to the Tea Fire in Montecito) helped battle the blaze. The flames were close to homes, however no buildings were damaged. Some residents told to evacuate… many others were told to standby. One resident said that a telephone pole caught fire due to some arching power lines Friday morning. He put that fire out, but around 8:30, some embers blew up into the hills and started the brush fire. Residents were able to go back to their homes around one o’clock that afternoon.
