Cal Poly Faculty Awarded Grant to Increase and Study Diversity
|
|
Four faculty members at Cal Poly have been awarded a grant from the National Science Foundation. The $200,000 award will fund a study that looks at the experiences of female faculty at Cal Poly in the science, technology, engineering and math fields (or STEM). The NSF’s Institution Transformation Start grant will fund the study that will explore why there is such a low number of female STEM faculty and develop a plan to boost those numbers. Nilgun Sungar, Mary Armstrong, Jasna Jovanovic and Daniel Walsh will be conducting the year long study. This grant has increased diversity at major institutions for the past 15 years. |
