Another Man Dies at the Dunes

A Chowchilla man is dead after his ATV collides with a truck at the Oceano Dunes. 22 year old Robert Peterson was driving his truck up a steep dune, and when he got to the top, he collided head-on with an ATV. The driver of that ATV was 24 year old Michael Knodel. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Peterson was not injured. Both of them were using the safety equipment required at the dunes. The San Luis Obispo County Coroner’s Office is looking into the cause of Knodel’s death. This is the seventh fatal accident that happened at the Oceano Dunes this year.
