An Additional Stretch of Highway 1 is Closed

Another mile stretch of Highway 1 has been closed near Big Sur due to the Basin Complex Fire. The closure began last Saturday afternoon. Both directions of the highway are closed for 20 miles. Highway 1 is closed from the south just north of the town of Lucia, and from the north at the Nepenthe South Entrance. Take alternate routes like Highway 101 to the 68 or the 46 if you plan to travel north. Many local businesses remain open, but call ahead to make sure. CalTrans does not know when the road will be re-opened. |
